Tangled Tongues / Lenguas Enredadas is a community writing group founded by Anahí Saravia Herrera and Soledad Santana in 2023.
It is a space for Latin American artists to explore the role of bilingualism/multilingualism, collective translation, and feminist approaches in their creative practice.

LIBRARY OF LENGUAS ENREDADAS
In 2026, we launched the roaming feminist library, ‘Library of Lenguas Enredadas’ as part of Alter.Nativa Festival.
The collection features books, zines, poetry pamphlets, political texts and more, emphasising anti-colonial, afro, and indigenous perspectives, alongside UK-based Latinx writers, publishers and those creating from outside the territories.

The group emerges from the understanding that for those of us occupying multiple territories and identities, we write from a unique positionality: that of a many-armed and legged body, in Gloria Anzaldúa’s words.
This body bears a tongue that slips between, falling through vowels and accents fluidly, una lengua enredada trying to articulate itself through language.
Spanglish is not broken English, it is a way of articulating a blend of identities, crossed by languages, migration and memory
